Water Therapy

Autism Spectrum Disorder

There are many children with Autism who really love water.
This is because their body's sensory system works a bit differently.
Water creates pressure on their skin called hydrostatic pressure.  This helps them feel calmer so it's easier to absorb and retain information.

Water therapy can improve:

  • language

  • speech

  • interaction skills

  • motor planning and coordination

  • self-regulation

  • oral motor control

  • everyday skills e.g. dressing

When: Tuesdays 11am-3pm

Where: Splashdown Geelong

How:

  1. Contact Dot to Dot to schedule a meeting.
  2. Work with the therapist to develop goals.
  3. Watch the therapist teach your child at Splashdown, we'd love for you to join in too!
  4. You will be taught strategies to continue making progress at home.
  5.  Review the goals and see the progress!
